Slab and site work in North Florida

The pad, footings and floor under the barn.

Slab and site work in North Florida: what to know

A barn is only as square as the ground under it. Site work starts with clearing and grading a pad that sits a little above the surrounding field, so water runs away from the building. From there the floor is either compacted gravel or lime rock with concrete footings at each column, or a full slab with the anchor bolts cast into the pour. Pricing the pad together with the building keeps the anchor plan and the steel drawings in agreement, which saves a lot of grief on erection day.
